Sisterhood & the savanna.

Our first artisan partners, education you can help fund, and the wild heart of Africa — celebration to safari.

Uganda holds a special place in Noonday's story — this is where it all began, with the very first artisan partners who taught us that dignified work changes everything. This is where you'll dance and celebrate with the women whose income has sent their own children to school, and help fund the education of girls headed even further, to university.

From there, you'll journey into the wild: game drives across Lake Mburo's open plains, a boat safari past hippos and birdlife, and a lodge built for total rest.

Come expecting warmth, purpose, and wide-open savanna. Leave with a deeper understanding of how dignity and opportunity ripple outward, one family at a time.

Liz Bohannon

At 22, I bought a one-way ticket to Uganda and my life changed forever. I started Sseko there to create economic and educational opportunities for female scholars — and a few years ago, Sseko merged with Noonday. I'm nutty for meaningful connection, and leading this trip is peak passion for me. Twende — come, we go!

Sara Freer

I live outside Chicago with my husband and four daughters, and I've spent my career on the financial empowerment of women through wealth management, with global experience in development and microfinance. In the Noonday community since 2017, my trips to Guatemala, Peru, and Thailand have been absolute highlights. I can't wait to adventure with you!

Itinerary

Seven Days You Won't Forget

Day 1

Arrival

Arrive in Entebbe and settle in. If time permits, some spa and pool time before a relaxed welcome dinner, where you'll meet your fellow travelers and begin the journey together.

Day 2

Connection

Spend the day with Jalia and the women of Noonday's very first artisan partnership — dancing together, sharing a meal, and watching their craft come to life. Try your hand at beading a piece of your own to take home.

Day 3

Education

Spend the day at Cornerstone Leadership Academy, meeting incredible girls from across the country whose education you can help fund. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a show at Ndere Cultural Center.

Day 4

Savanna

Drive to Lake Mburo National Park, stopping at the Equator along the way, with an afternoon game drive en route. Settle into your tented room at Mihingo Safari Lodge, perched on a rocky outcrop with an infinity pool overlooking the plains.

Day 5

Safari

Rise for a morning guided game drive, then spend the afternoon on the water with a boat safari across Lake Mburo. Relax into the rhythms of nature back at the lodge, with the option to add an open-air massage as the sun sets.

Day 6

Adventure

Set out on a guided walking safari, then choose your own adventure: a horseback safari, an Ankole cattle cultural experience, or a cycling safari, followed by a thrilling evening game drive under the stars.

Day 7

Homeward

After a relaxed breakfast at Mihingo, drive back to Entebbe, carrying home new friendships and a deeper understanding of how dignified jobs and educational opportunities ripple outward, one family at a time.

FAQ

Good to know.

How physically demanding is this trip?

All trips involve a fair amount of walking on any given day, with some uneven terrain and flights of stairs. This trip includes a guided walking safari with walking on uneven terrain, though it's optional if you'd rather sit it out. At Mihingo Safari Lodge, there are many stairs to navigate to the different bungalows. Optional activities like cycling and horseback riding are also available if you're up for more adventure.

Where will we stay?

In Entebbe: Le Petit Village Boutique Hotel & Spa, an intimate 5-star boutique hotel with unique thatch-roofed architecture and safari-chic rustic elegance — featuring an outdoor pool, full-service spa, and gourmet dining.

At Lake Mburo: Mihingo Safari Lodge, an exclusive eco-friendly luxury retreat perched on a rocky kopje outcrop, with private thatched tented rooms, an infinity pool, gourmet meals and drinks, massage options, and unique activities.

Where will we fly in/out of?

Entebbe International Airport (EBB). International airfare is not included, so you can have flexibility in how and when you want to book.

Can I travel by myself?

Absolutely — many of our travelers come solo and leave with lifelong friends. If you'd prefer a room to yourself, you can select a single supplement at registration; this is currently only available at Le Petit Village Hotel in Kampala. We will keep you posted if availability opens up at Mihingo Safari Lodge. If you register for a double room without a roommate in mind, we'll help match you with another traveler after registration.

Is this trip for ladies only?

Yes — this is a women-only journey, designed for connection and community among female travelers.

Can I arrive early or extend my trip afterwards?

Yes, absolutely! We recommend arriving early if you can, especially for destinations with significant time changes, to give yourself a jump on adjusting. We'd love to help with recommendations on what to do, and can connect you with our on-the-ground tour operators if you'd like help organizing something bigger. Just ask!

Do I need to have traveled internationally before?

Not at all. Many of our travelers are brand new to international travel, and our guides are there to help every step of the way — from what to pack to facilitating the group moments that help us reflect, connect, and grow together.
