About
Dien is the leader of the sewing and embroidery group where our beautiful Vietnamese textile pieces are crafted. Based in Nguyen Trai village, Dien has 35 years of experience in sewing, embroidery and beading. She was born and raised in a family where working with these skills was second nature, and her passion for sewing and embroidery started early.
After getting married, Dien put her passion to work and started a small sewing workshop in her village. Today, her workshop is filled with vibrant textiles ready to be transformed into unique accessories, and provides dignified work for Dien’s family and other women in the neighborhood. In addition to the women who work from the workshop, some of Dien’s Artisans are able to work from home, allowing them to earn a fair income while caring for their children and elderly parents.

Beginning in 1954, Vietnam was partitioned into two countries, and was reunified in 1976. Vietnam places a high value on education and has a literacy rate of 96%. Handcrafts are also highly valued as cultural treasures; over 2700 villages in Vietnam are known as "craft villages" because they have specialized in a particular handcraft for hundreds of years.
