Our Purpose
Our purpose is to build a flourishing world where women are empowered, children are cherished, people have jobs, and we are all connected.
-
Women are empowered
Investing in women creates a ripple effect that positively impacts entire communities. Our company is not only female-founded but also female-run, with nearly 90% of our home office staff being women. Additionally, 75% of the artisans we collaborate with are female.
-
Children are cherished
Children are cherished: Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow and thrive. We partner with fair trade artisan groups and organizations that prioritize children’s rights to ensure that the products we offer are ethically made and free from child labor. We also support children’s education through our Sunrise and Sunshine Scholarship programs.
-
People have jobs
Dignified work changes lives. We work side by side with Artisan Entrepreneurs to enable their communities to flourish through dignified job creation, collaborative design, responsible financing, capacity building, and long-term partnerships. Each piece they make tells a story of skilled craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and empowerment.
-
We are all connected
Honoring our connection to one another and to the earth is our highest calling. Through international travel experiences and community pop-up storytelling events, we connect people across cultures. Our designs celebrate and help preserve traditional heritage techniques. We honor the earth by reusing and recycling whenever possible, producing in limited quantities, and offering a full circular fashion experience through our Drop & Shop events.

Our Story
From a Fundraiser to a Brand
In 2010, Jessica Honegger was right in the middle of adopting a child from Rwanda when her home flipping business went belly up due to the recession. She didn't want a financial obstacle to get in the way of completing the adoption.
A friend introduced Jessica to Jalia Matovu, an artisan from Uganda who created beautiful handmade goods but lacked a stable marketplace to grow her venture. Jessica saw a solution to both of their problems: By selling Jalia's handmade goods in the US, Jessica could raise funds to adopt her son, while simultaneously generating revenue for Jalia's venture.
Jessica invited a few friends to her home one evening to shop the collection and the overwhelming reaction to the story and the products propelled Jessica to turn her at-home fundraiser into an actual company that has now invested more than 40 million dollars in some of the world's most underserved communities. In the years since, Noonday has donated more than one million dollars to over 5,000 families to help people like Jessica grow their families through adoption. Jessica's son, Jack, joined their family in 2011. You can find him playing football, eating hamburgers, and making others laugh.
